It's the beginning of a new month and that means a new Monthly Family Goals printable for you!
Hurray for June being here! It's the end of the school year, warmer weather, the official start of summer, and a time of winding down some of the "school year" activities. I especially like the warmer weather part :) I'm a summer gal and try to soak up every ounce of summer I can.

Achieving Balance in 2014
In January I shared my word for the year: balance. I've continued working towards this through the month of May. I've been working this year on establishing new habits one at a time, instead of starting several at once. So far it's going well!
- In January, I worked on utilizing short amounts of time better
- In February, my new habit was planning our dinners for the week every Sunday
- In March I started drinking a 16 oz glass of water at least 4-5 times per day
- In April I worked on eating more fruits and vegetables
I didn't start a new habit in May because it was such an unusual month for me, with my hubby being away for two weeks and then taking a family vacation for two weeks.
I did work on drinking water and eating fruits and vegetables still though. We were at Disney World for our vacation and brought in our own soft coolers with drinks, refillable water bottles, and snacks. I loaded them up with fruits and vegetables more than any previous day trips.
I'm going to keep working on drinking water and eating fruit and vegetables in June, and I will be more consistent in recording my glasses of water and my fruit and vegetable consumption on my menu planning pad on the fridge so I can track my progress and remind myself to stick with this goal (I did that a little at the beginning of May, but I need to get back into it now that I'm back from holidays).
I'm also going to set a new goal to go to bed every night by midnight or earlier. I'm a night owl, and my brain wakes up around 11:00 when it should be shutting down. I've been reading more about how important sleep is for productivity, and since I need to be up every morning by shortly after 7:00 am, I want to at least be setting myself up for 7 hours or more of sleep per night. Once I master this goal I may even shoot for 11:00 which would give me closer to 8 hours. One step at a time though :)
As a family, we're continuing to work on being more grateful, my son is working on being more generous, and my daughter is working on being more peaceful. These were words we picked for the year and when we set goals each month at our family meeting, we're thinking of ways we can achieve them.
We really worked on these goals this month while my hubby was gone and at our May family meeting we brainstormed very specific ways each of us could demonstrate gratefulness, and how my son could show generosity, and how my daughter could live more peacefully. I think the specifics really helped and we did quite well overall.
If you've never set family goals, this month is a brand new opportunity to set some! Have a family meeting and discuss what you'd like to accomplish this month and write down your ideas on this printable. It's a great way to help you live more intentionally!
A Quick Look Back at May on the Blog
May was a bit of a different month on the blog. I had several friends guest post and those posts were really well received. I knew you'd make them feel at home here :) I have one more guest post coming up on Wednesday and then I'll be getting back into a more regular posting schedule myself.
May also marked my 2 year blogiversary and I shared some of my favourite posts and some of the most popular posts from the past year. I extended the giveaway so make sure you enter if you haven't yet!
Since my hubby was on a special trip and we went on a family vacation in May, I had trip planning on my mind, so I shared some tips with you. I have a few more organized vacation posts coming up this month too.
If you've missed any posts last month, you can read all the May posts here.
Last month, I set 4 goals for the blog. I achieved 2 of them and most of another one, but missed one of them.
- I wrote 2 Organizing Ideas for the Weekend posts
- I celebrated my 2 year blogiversary with flashback posts and a giveaway
- I shared 2 posts (but not my goal of 3) on being organized for traveling (I'll share the one I missed soon)
- I didn't update my progress in the 365 Items in 365 Days Challenge (although I did some decluttering - I'll add my progress to June's update)
What's Coming Up In June On The Blog?
This week is still quite busy as I'm catching up from being away for 2 weeks, helping my parents move, and preparing to write the Trained Professional Organizer exam on Saturday. But I'm excited about some of the posts I've planned for this month! You'll start seeing them next week.
Here are my goals for June:
- Write 3 posts on being organized for traveling
- Update my progress for May and June in the 365 Items in 365 Days challenge
- Launch a new series called "We Did It! So Can You!" featuring participants in the 365 Items in 365 Days Challenge
- Write at least 2 Organizing Ideas for the Weekend posts
I'm looking forward to June both personally and on the blog!
So, what are your family, personal, or blog goals for June? How are your 2014 goals coming along? Are you a summer person or a winter one?
Happy organizing!
