Have you ever felt overwhelmed during the month of December with all the stuff that enters your home? The trick I've found helps me is to declutter throughout the month. Will you join me in the Net Zero Decluttering Challenge?
Each day this month I'll share some decluttering tips and ideas so you can end the month with the same number of items in your home (or maybe even less!) than what you started the month with.
Today I'm sharing tips on decluttering your clothing.
Today's Suggested Decluttering Task
You've already decluttered your kids' clothing and now you get to go through yours! You can include any other adults in your home too if they're willing to participate in your Net Zero Clutter efforts. And you don't have to stick to just clothing... if you've got lots of accessories, jewelry, etc. you can declutter those!
Here are a few tips for decluttering clothing:
- Donate any clothes that are the wrong size (don't keep those you're hoping to fit back into... it's just a constant reminder that overwhelms you and makes you feel guilty for not being that size anymore... who needs that?!)
- Give away anything that you don't feel fantastic in
- Let go of clothing that needs to be repaired unless you're planning to fix it in the next few days (it will just become a pile taunting you from your closet every day... don't put yourself through that!)
- Declutter items that you have many multiples of (unless that's your wardrobe strategy and you only have a limited selection)
- Purge clothes you haven't worn in a year (there's usually a reason for that... and why make your closet so packed full of clothes you don't actually wear?!)
That should leave you with a wardrobe with clothes you love, feel good in, and that fit!
I've shared lots of tips on decluttering clothing in previous posts so I don't want to re-invent the wheel here... check out these posts for more tips!
