Got a lot of photos? Do you want to be able to enjoy your pictures instead of having to search and search to find your favourites? Does the thought of tackling your photo collection seem so overwhelming that you keep putting it off? Me too!
That's why this month I'm hosting the 31 Day Photo Decluttering Challenge! Each day I'll share tips to help you declutter your photo collection so you can really treasure and enjoy all the best ones. And I'll share my progress as I declutter my photos along with you :)
Today's tip is to declutter pictures of landscapes or buildings.
Today's Photo Decluttering Tip - Declutter Photos of Landscapes or Buildings
As you're going through your pictures, either printed or digital, you're probably finding lots of photos of landscapes and buildings. I'll start with landscapes. You know, those vacation pictures with breathtaking views of mountains, valleys, rivers, oceans, trees, etc. We always think that those pictures will help us remember the beautiful scenery we enjoyed while exploring a new part of the country or the world. But unless you have an amazing camera or mad photography skills, those pictures rarely ever really capture the view as well as you hope they will. And the thing with pictures of landscapes is we don't often include people in them because they are usually distance shots. I'd recommend letting go of most of these kinds of pictures. Years down the road the pictures probably aren't going to mean much to you.
Similarly with pictures of buildings. For example, you're on vacation and you take pictures of historic landmarks. Again, these pictures rarely include the friends or family that you're traveling with. Or if they do, they're little specks in front of a large building. Chances are you aren't going to care about pictures of buildings in the future. You'll want to remember that trip, though. So keep other pictures that have the people you were vacationing with. Maybe keep one special building picture that reminds you of that holiday.
If you declutter most of your landscapes and buildings pictures, you'll be much further ahead in being able to enjoy the best pictures in your collection.
And moving forward, you can make sure you always take some pictures with the people you are enjoying the beautiful scenery and buildings with. Perhaps focus on the people and include some of the landscape or buildings in the background. That will help you remember what you saw, but more importantly the memories made with the people you saw it with.
My Photo Decluttering Progress
This is a busy weekend with it being the Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I'm taking a short break from photo decluttering to enjoy time with family and friends. I'll keep sharing daily tips for you though!
Your Turn!
Go through your photos and let go of some of the landscape and building pictures. See if you can find the best pictures that bring back special memories of each particular vacation and keep them instead. How many photos have you found of landscapes and buildings?
